G&O Short Line Railroads

Established in 1985, G&O has owned and operated a total of 18 different short line railroads, located in four different states. G&O currently owns and operates five short line railroads which are the: Knoxville & Holston River (KXHR), the Lancaster & Chester (L&C), the Laurinburg and Southern (LRS), and the Yadkin Valley (YVRR). The KXHR and the YVRR were once Class-I railroad lines whereas the LRS and L&C have over 100 years of railroading history each. The railroads serve a variety of customers and haul freight that ranges from ethanol to wood products to steel. G&O railroads ship over 35,000 freight cars a year. Knoxville & Holston River Railroad (KXHR)

The Knoxville & Holston River Railroad operates in the Knoxville, TN area on 20 miles of track. The KXHR transports over 7,600 carloads per year with freight such as scrap metal, steel, ethanol, and plastics.

Lancaster & Chester Railroad (LC)

The Lancaster & Chester operates out of Lancaster, SC with 62 miles of track. The L&C hauls 11,600 carloads per year with freight such as steel, limestone, clay, and chemicals.

Laurinburg & Southern Railroad (LRS)

The Laurinburg & Southern operates in the Laurinburg, NC area on 28 miles of track. The LRS hauls 5,800 carloads per year with freight such as soda ash, glass, fertilizer, and feed ingredients.

Yadkin Valley Railroad (YVRR)

The Yadkin Valley Railroad operates out of the Winston Salem, NC area on 93 miles of track, making it the largest G&O railroad. The YVRR hauls 11,500 carloads per year with freight such as ethanol, wood products, steel, and LP gas.
