Transloading
What is transloading with railroads?
Transloading is the movement of goods by both rail and truck. Commodities are unloaded and shipped by rail to a designated site, then unloaded into a truck. Transloading has the advantage of serving a customer who does not have rail access at a more competitive price than trucking alone.
Why use transloading?
Enjoy the benefits and cost savings of rail service even if your business is not located on the railroad. In most cases a truck will deliver the goods to a transloading facility, load on to a railcar, travel to the final destination, then unload.
